How to apply and important dates

In addition to the standard Faculty application documents, candidates applying to study at the ERC are requested to provide the documents required under admission requirements, which they are to send directly to the postgraduate administrator at the ERC (Ms Fazlin Harribi on fazlin.harribi@uct.ac.za).

UCT’s official closing date for applications is the 31st October in the year preceding study.  Applications received before 31st august will be assessed in the first round. Applications received before 30th September will be assessed in a second round.  Applications received thereafter will be assessed if there are spaces in the programme remaining. We therefore highly recommend you apply by the end of August for first round assessment.  A selection panel comprising the ERC Director, course convenors and staff assess the applications in batches, so there may be some delay after you submit your application.

Accepted candidates will receive a study offer letter by the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment and are kindly requested to inform both the Faculty, as well as the ERC (Ms Harribi) as soon as they receive their offers. Offers not accepted by end-November will be offered to a wait-listed candidate.

If you are accepted and unable to join the Masters programme in the following year, please note that we do not hold places for students. We can rollover your application and note that you were selected in the previous year, but each application is assessed against the cohort for that year.
